Come join the world's largest singing organization, The Barbershop Harmony Society... you might know us as The Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America ...and treat yourself by being part of the Stockton Portsmen Chorus! The Society boasts a membership of nearly 28,000 men throughout North America and has affiliates the world over. Members belong to some 800 chapters, just like the Stockton, California Chapter.
This Chapter was organized and received its Charter from the Society on October 18, 1954 and began meeting at the old Stockton Airport. The group later moved to the Port of Stockton and the "Portsmen" name was originated.
The Portsmen have been a part of the community since that time, introducing the population to barbershop by singing at all different types of events culminating with an annual show.

After our chorus rehearsal, some of the chorus members form quartets and sing just for the fun of it. We encourage you to be part of this unique singing experience. You may be surprised how well you'll do! Once you've sung four part harmony ... you'll be hooked for life!
